  1. Exciting! I have zero colleagues currently who follow ANY sports other than Olympic skating or gymnastics, so this is such a treat. Fab, you're a mensch.

I think it all comes down to the Patriots defense. Ryan and the Falcons have just had too many weapons for nearly everyone they've played all year, and the Patriots are simply NOT the team they used to be. It should really be a shootout regardless of who wins, but I think the Falcons have the variety of options offensively that the Pats USUALLY do. It will take New England having to play better than usual to win, where as if the Falcons play like they have, it's going to be a victory for sad-sack Atlanta.

It is a year when I don't have much invested in the game, so I'm really looking forward to enjoying it.

And Gaga. Love me my Gaga.

    1. Nothing like the Super Bowl to whip academics into a frenzy! :)

    2. Oh, Cal, I have the game 34-24 for the Falcons.

    3. It never occurred to me that the Patriots' O-line would be the key. Wow. They've not put up much of a fight.

    4. Well I don't know what to say after that, Fab. I seriously thought your read on it was perfect. Atlanta had Brady on the run more than I've ever seen. But they simply ran out of gas at the end. They were on the field an incredible amount in the 4th quarter, and were clearly gassed.

Remarkable game that just sort of defies description.

  2. Yup, those are two REALLY tough majors there. Those guys are certainly getting an education well worth the physical punishment and time spent being professional athletes.

I hate american football. I hate how it abuses kids who will never make a dollar playing the sport, giving them concussions in high school. I hate how it treats the big players at the big schools. I hate how it keeps stopping every ten seconds. I hate how much it costs. I hate how much coaches make compared to me. I hate non-spherical balls.

Sorry, sorry. Vent complete. Hope everyone had fun watching yesterday!

    1. Well I thought I did, but now I must rethink it. Ha ha. The one thing I like about Ryan is that after he completed his degree, he kept taking classes while he was still playing. He didn't have to do it, and maybe it doesn't amount to much, but BC is not a bad school.

    2. Plus this idea has come up before on the other blogs, and always surprised me. Because most of my real world friends love some type of sport. But I almost never have been in an apartment or anybody played or cared about any of them. I've actually had a reasonable people say to me in the faculty lounge something along the lines of the aspherical ball thing. Like, oh did you mean you watched football, that sport that has an aspherical ball? And then they took their head at me as if I was talking about some alien event. But mention Quidditch one time!

    3. Department instead of a apartment. I'm typing this on the phone. Sorry.
