Once at Center of Yale Protests, Professor Wins the School’s Highest Honor [nytimes.com]
The girl reminds me of Hazel Bryan shouting in 1957 at Little Rock. What a dreadful way to be remembered. The technology is far worse (better?) now. We're getting recorded everywhere. We just lose our temper for one second, and decades later people around the world still remember us at our worst. The unfairness of it. Back luck.
Yes, but Hazel Bryan saw these pictures of her, realized she was wrong, and since has made it a point to be much kinder. I sure hope Jerelyn Luther gets the same message.
Didn't Henry Kissinger also win a Nobel Peace Prize? He may have it.
