Monday Magic in June
Any optimistic comments about your school or the state of higher education anywhere?
It's a great question; I just wish it were an easy one. My school seems hell-bent on self-destruction. Optimistic comments: At least some of the proffies recognize this, and are able to still help the students that want to be helped.
I picked up the word effectuation somewhere, but never really thought it would apply to running a program...
Actually, things for me here at Fresno State right now look pretty good. Enrollment for the entire university is up despite the best efforts of Randa Jarrar. Both my new course on spaceflight and my old upper-level course have more students than any other upper-level courses in the department. I have more than enough promising students registered for research. So, if you can stand Fresno's air pollution and thoroughly fucked-up social order, it's not too bad.
