I am afraid that we* won't survive the current demographic challenges we face intact. I am also afraid that we will survive, but learn bugger-all from it.
Quitting academia is a possibility for me, but I'm afraid it would mean disrupting the lives of both older and younger generations of the EC persuasion who (to a certain extent) depend on the stability tenure gives me.
