Breitbart editor and occasional person you see on TV, Milo Yiannopoulos, has officially opened up a college scholarship exclusively for young white men.
According to the scholarship's website, The Privilege Grant "is available exclusively to white men" who want to pursue college "on equal footing with their female, queer and ethnic minority classmates."
Applications for the grant opened on January 31st, and each grant is in the amount of $2,500.

I honestly don't think I can roll my eyes hard enough.
ReplyDeleteEach day a new astonishment.
DeleteHopefully,he will get papered to distraction with a mountain of applications from the vast majority of the planet who don't fit that profile. And, by the way, is he equating being "white men" with not being "queer"? Interesting definition. And are applicants really going to have to take an..ahem.."entrance exam" where they demonstrate sexual preference?
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that intersectionality is not part of his vocabulary, except perhaps as an example of a ridiculous liberal buzzword that doesn't actually mean anything (it does, of course).
Delete"White" is also a contested term, of course. At least according to the classification system I learned as a child, most natives of Iraq, Iran, and Syria would qualify. So maybe some young man can use it to help pay a lawyer to resolve his visa status?
Anybody think he's setting the stage for a lawsuit, and ensuing test case? Maybe I'm just cynical, but somehow I don't think helping young white men is his first priority (he's also kinda cheap; I know that a lot of such scholarships are modest, and every $2500 helps, but it also doesn't go far these days -- maybe a few credits, or books for c. 3 semesters?).
