12 Authors Write About the Libraries They Love [nytimes.com]

"For most readers and writers — and book lovers in general — the library holds a special place of honor and respect. We asked several authors to tell us about their local public library or to share a memory of a library from their past. . . ."

I love the idea of libraries.

Also, I recently bought a small Sunbeam Electric Heating Pad with which to cover my feet when I'm sitting in the library, because my feet can get cold in the library in the colder months. For decades, I put up with that. But now I can keep my feet warm. No need to bring my little heater fan from home--which would be prohibited in most libraries, anyway.
