Moriarty from Midland emails a statement
"College should be a place where they don't make you feel crazy for telling the truth."
Absolutely true. And a related statement: one should be able to speak the truth about the university itself, as well as the larger world. I don't have any problems with the latter at my u, but still face a certain amount of denial/blindness when bringing up issues that point to internal dysfunction (e.g. those associated with contingency, or the place of teaching in a research university more generally -- or, for that matter, the fact that those two categories of issues increasingly overlap to the point of being nearly indistinguishable).
Unless it's a batshit university. Which mine is.
