The flava:
In spite of tradition and the week’s name itself, a substantial number of professors decide to conclude their courses during the 15th week of instruction, requiring students to take exams, submit final work and catch up on content before the two-day reading period for finals even begins. But while educators and administrators might think they’re doing us a favor by giving us our exams early, they have exactly the opposite effect.

Opinion from the student newspaper.
ReplyDeleteMy uni shifted all exams for seniors to the last week of class so the administration can be sure they're going to graduate before letting them walk. Nobody likes it.
ReplyDeleteA lot of my colleagues do that. It's against our rules and, as the editorial states, does students no favors even if they find it lovely to be done early. On the other hand, the huge university in my town has a "reading week," where no work can be due so students can prepare for exams. It should be rechristened "vomiting and bail out of jail week."
ReplyDeleteTell the registrar. That's the office that dictates how much time I have to do my work.
ReplyDeleteGod I hate this. It almost always ends up hurting students.
